James Landers, PhD
Founder and Chief Scientific Officer
James Landers is Professor of Chemistry, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Virginia, and an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Virginia Health System. As a Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh, he forayed into analytical microfluidic systems for next generation molecular diagnostic platforms. Some of the seminal developments are now incorporated into the commercial system developed by MicroLab, LLC in partnership with Lockheed Martin. Having developed one of the first sample in-answer out microdevices for genetic analysis, Landers Lab at UVA received the 2008 Association for Lab Automation ‘Innovative Technology of the Year’ Award. The lab is viewed as one of the top five forensic DNA research programs in the country. He is currently the Microfluidics Editor for Analytica Chimica Acta, is a member of the Analytical Chemistry Editorial Advisory Board, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Director of the Center for Nano-Bio Research at UVA. He received his Bachelor of Science (1984; Biochemistry; minor in Biomedicine) and a PhD at the University of Guelph.

Stuart Hellyar is a prize winning Chartered Accountant having qualified with the ‘Big 4’ audit firm EY in 1995. Hellyar read Mathematics with Statistics at Bath University and has since followed a successful career in finance. He has worked at board level over the past 13 years within growth companies in the technology, defence and aerospace and support services sectors.Hellyar has significant public company experience including statutory reporting, corporate governance and city experience. His core finance specialities include financial reporting, tax, treasury and internal audit. He has strong international experience predominately within the USA, Australasia and Europe and also has significant merger and acquisition experience, including recently running a ‘dual track’ exercise for Mouchel Group which concluded with a trade sale to Kier Group plc for £265m.
